Ken Levy attended the School of Architecture at Kent State University in Ohio where he received a Bachelor of Architecture in 1974.   He  served most of his apprenticeship in Houston, Texas working with architectural firms and construction companies and became a registered architect in the state of Texas in 1979. 


In 1986 he moved to Crystal River, Florida and was employed as Director of Architecture at a multidisciplinary A&E firm. In October 1988 he moved to Columbus, Georgia to join a local commercial architectural firm as a Project Manager.  In March of 1990 Ken began his own architectural practice in Columbus.


Ken has been married for 30 years and has three children with his wife, Karen who works in payroll at the Muscogee County School District. His son Harrison works for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore and his son Mason will graduate in June 2012 from the University of Kentucky with a bachelors in mechanical engineering, an MBA and a National Championship with the UK cheer team. His daughter Madison is studying exercise science at Kennesaw State University and is on the KSU women’s rugby team.

   For existing commercial, institutional and residential buildings

   requiring adaptations, additions, renovation, remodeling, historic

   rehabilitation and/or changes of occupancy


  1. Specialized Services - Existing building surveys, as-built

   drawings, code compliance assessments, building and

   house inspections, feasibility studies and planning studies


  1. Project Delivery Methods - Design/Bid/Build (traditional), Team

   Approach with a preselected contractor, Design/Build (single 

   source for design and construction)


  1. Consultants - All architectural work including interior design is

   done in-house.  Consulting engineering services for civil, struct-

   ural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and landscape design is

   contracted out to qualified professionals in the surrounding area

   who have worked with Ken Levy on many projects.

SERVICES

January, 2004 - Gold Award  -  NAHB “Best in American 
   Living Award”, a multi-tiered competition sponsored by the
   U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department. The  
   award was for a series of affordable housing designs done 
   for the Columbus Housing Initiative and Fourth Street 
   Towers’ East Wynnton Park Project and was published in 
   Professional Builder Magazine in January, 2004.
Voted one of Reader‘s Choice Awards for Favorite 
   Architect - Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, 2004
April, 1990 - 2nd Place -  “A Playground for the Garrard 
   Girl‘s Club” sponsored by the West Georgia Chapter A.I.A., 
   Columbus, GA
November, 1987 - 3rd place cash prize - 60,000 sf school 
   building in a design competition sponsored by the Diocese 
   of St. Petersburg, Florida
June, 1976 - Honorable Mention for Design Excellence - 
  “Existing Urban Waterfront Structure and Property 
   Revitalization” - The Lebrun Fellowship Competition 
   sponsored by the New York Chapter A.I.A.
May, 1974 - 2nd place cash prize - “Community 
   Correctional Center” - National Student Competition
